Top Heavy?

I have always had trouble.

I have always had large breasts. This fact has been a cause to rejoice for my male friends, and a case of discomfort for me. I have always had a hard time finding a bra that fit correctly. I have never found a shirt that fit correctly, and forget about finding a dress. My mother had to tailor make all of my highschool formals. When I was a freshman in highschool, I wore a 34C and since then, my breasts have steadily grown. I, at age 23, acheived a size 36DDD, and stayed at that size for the last 10 years. I thought that would be my size forever.... Until, I got pregnant. With the onset of pregnancy, my boobs grew to an unbelievably large size. I couldn't even find maternity tops that fit correctly. If they fit my breasts, they were way too big for the rest of my body. Throughout my pregnancy, I looked as if I was going to have triplets, one baby in my stomach, and one in each boob.

Now, I am not the thinnest woman in the world, but I have never been big enough for my breasts to look small, or even average. I have been gawked at, ridiculed, and celebrated for my chest. I, personally, would rather them be much smaller. I did, however, find that when I found a bra that fit correctly, I was much more comfortable and much more confident. 85% of all women wear ill-fitting bras. It is important to wear a bra that fits and fits your lifestyle.

The first step to finding the perfect bra, is to find your correct bra size. The only way to do this is to get fitted. There are websites with charts to help determine your correct size, but it is extremely difficult to measure yourself correctly, if you are not familiar with how it is done. My best advice is to go to a bra boutique. Every town has a place that sells nice lingerie and will deliver a precise bra fitting. This is not for the shy woman. A bra fitter will come into the dressing room with you, and measure you while you are topless. It is a bit odd, at first, but I just look at it like a Dr.'s appointment. It must be done.

Once you know your correct size, the sky is the limit. I have to purchase plus size bras, but if you are a average size, you can go to Victoria's Secret. I am jealous of women who can go to Victoria's Secret. If you are like me, I will post some links to some really good websites for plus size lingerie.

I am back down to my 36DDD, but now that I have a bra that fits, I am much more content with it. Now, if I could only find a bathing suit top that would supply coverage....

Um...Davinagirl3? You have quite the catch title for this hub. Don't be surprised if you get A LOT of hits, especially from some...Interested guys. Funny and informative hub, by the way.

Well, dohn121, I wanted to write on this subject, so I figured I would do a little experiment with the title. Thanks for the comment. Hopefully, it will also trickle down to the audience it can benefit... other large breasted women! ;)

that is a catchy title....but I can understand, perhaps not first hand, that that may be an issue of health concerns. You probably won't get too many females feeling sorry for you, especially those that are flat chested.

Hey Davina gurl, I was sporting 36C's when I was in 7th grade. I was 5'9" at the time and stick thin. They just ran in the family. Fortunately for me they stopped growing after that, but boy, was I a fav of the middle school boys! :)

Davina, I was kind of hoping this was going to be about clothes drying racks because I'm a bit old fashioned. But now that I'm here and have read your hub, I must say I found it very funny and informative!

Have you ever thought about breast reduction surgery? I've known of women who had that done and apparently it made a world of difference in their lives - far fewer back and other aches, and an ability to find well-fitting clothes.

My own problem in the bra department is that, for reasons I still don't understand, bras of every type (including sports bras) put pressure right on my breast bone, causing me a strong degree of discomfort. If you or any other reader knows of a different kind of bra - one that wraps around or acts like a shirred fabric, I'd be delighted to hear about it. I couldn't care less at this point in my life about showing off my, ahem, 'rack' - but I do care a great deal about pain-free living! Thanks, D. (I'll leave the Triple D jokes to the boys!)

I have thought of breast reduction surgery, but it leaves you unable to breast feed and I am going to have one more baby. After that, I will get the reconstruction.

Nice title, it was exactly what I thought it was about. :D

Well the experiment worked for me as I just knew it could only be... Anyway, I hope you do get the surgery and good luck on having your next birth.

I'm glad you found a bra that fit. I have trouble fitting into my thong bathing suit but I will not where anything else to the water park. I just love it when people gawk at my bannana hammock.

Oh i can relate to this one, not me but my daughter, she used to duck tape them and wear a sports bra during basseball becuase she couldn't play with her big boobs, she was 10. She is 20 now and considering a reduction. Her frame just cant support them.

I also have a big rack. I stated out in high school as a 36C and by the time I graduated collage 20 years later they had ballooned to a whopping 52DD. Like you I found it difficult to find a bra that would fit right. I now have even more of a problem because I have a left rotator cuff problem and can't wear the standard bra. I'm lucky that I live in the Los Angeles area and can find many custom bra shops. My favorite is called The Wizard of Bras, Creative Woman in Monrovia Ca.

Maybe you could consult with some of the old guys I saw last weekend at the beach. They needed some serious man bra's! LOL

poor dear, i know just how you feel. i started to develop in 3rd geade and have since than exploded to a 30G, and other than those i'm a pretty little girl so they look ridonculous on me. having a great fitting bra really does help but i envy those women who can buy them at Victoria's secret. i think us big girls need to uniote and found a company that makes lacy bras for the larger chest, maybe. anyway about the swimsuit, try a string bikini(strangly enough) you buy them purely based on the cup size and then tie to adjust its fantasmic

I agree. Large breasted women, who aren't obese, really can't find inexpensive bras or swimsuits.

Very smart title (great link bait). This one site should get 100s of visitors. I know when I saw the title "I have a Huge Rack," me being a guy who like huge racks, I clicked on the Hub.

To be honest though as much as they look good they are not practical. There is one side of me that loves them but the other side that knows they are a pain. Can you imagine going to gym, running, or doing any work with 36DDDs. They are aesthetically pleasing, sure, but functionality is a definite problem. Plus you always have guys staring at your chest. I feel for you.

Keep in mind though that no one ever gets what they want. Working as a fitness trainer for several years I found that out. Small breasted woman want larger chests. Large breasted girls usually want smaller breasts. One girl wants to bigger butt. The girl with the big butt is self conscious because she thinks her butt is to big and can't fit into jeans. I used to have gorgeous woman come up to me and talk to me and ask me how to improve this and that and how they thought they were not attractive. I was like "okay"????

I can relate. I'm currently in a 40DDD, but technically I tip the scales at a 44F, but it's extremely hard to find bras that fit me. I often wonder why women with normal size breast what to go bigger. Go figure! Thanks for the information.

Holy macaroni! When did that happen? You're too small to carry such a huge load. I am very concerned for your health. You take care of yourself and hopefully you'll make the right decision when the time is right.
